I'm facing the same issue with my Substacks. I had set one up for general writing, and another for politics, thinking that it would be a better venue than running them all together. And I'm not particularly happy with how Medium handles things either, especially the limited access unless you join the forum (and there's not much moderation plus they won't take PayPal for membership payments). I had considered eventually leaving TinyLetter for Substack, but now....
BUT. I may wander back over to Medium, blow off some dust, and then move things over there, especially if I can create separate forums so that I can direct people toward political or writing as the case may be. I do have my own WordPress blog, independently hosted, but it's kind of a pain to deal with.
Commenting as a paid subscriber in response to this and your earlier post about Substack. I would not mind resubscribing if you were to switch to a new service.
At the same time I recognize why it is difficult for so many writers to suddenly switch after finding a home and reader base with substack. I think it’s fair for you to take time to decide the best option moving forward. I really wish you the best in making that decision and will continue to keep supporting.
It sounds like there's a lot of discussion around transitioning between different platforms for managing writing and subscriptions. It’s understandable that such decisions are complex given the trade-offs involved. If you're considering switching, it might be worth taking some time to weigh the pros and cons of each option. Good luck with the transition, and I hope you find a solution that works well for both you and your readers!

Should I subscribe at Ghost? Those upfront costs are 👀.
No, that’s not really set up at the moment: it’s more me noodling around trying to see what works and doesn’t.
(But yes, if you'd like to, I'll let folks know when that's ready.)
Was just looking to see how I can upgrade to a Paid tier, and no luck. Is this due to you migrating?
Correct: I've turned off billing while I'm exploring that.
