I've been relying on audiobooks to preserve my failing eyesight, so I've listened to and very much enjoyed The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by VE Schwab. I've been living vicariously through Schwab's authorly achievements; she's on fire right now! Also, I'm in the middle of The Salvage Crew by Yudhanjaya Wijeratne. It's narrated by Nathan Fillion as the main character, an AI that was once human. Lots of snark and "stupid human" jokes. Reminds me a bit of the Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells.
I wanted to say also that Houston's nightmare hit pretty close to home for me. My brother and his family settled there after Katrina struck our hometown. They were lucky to get power back after 48 hours; but, as of the time of this writing, they're still not able to get water. I worry about them. It's as if the southeast US has an enormous bullseye on it of late, especially Houston. :(
I really enjoyed Wijeratne's book, and the audiobook! There are apparently two more on the way, which should be interesting. I also really enjoyed Schwab's novel.
I'm glad to hear that your brother and family has power, but hopefully they'll have water soon. I suspect that this isn't the last disaster in the near future for the region...
Probably late on this, but love the color scheme of the newsletter! I've just been reading the newsletter in my inbox so this is my first time seeing it. I'm on a bit of fantasy kick at the moment and have been reading Mistborn: The Final Empire and The Eye of the World.

I’m glad! I’m liking that they’ve allowed for some customization.
I tried Eye of the World years ago and never really got into it.
